Afternoon everyone!
Dr. Phil has a saying..."this is a changing day in your life" ~ and today is a big change in my son's Mitchell's life, and mine also. He left yesterday morning for Fort Benning in Georgia. It was hard to see him go, it was easier saying goodbye to him when he went off to college, but you still had the sometime weekend visits (dirty laundry, and the "mom got any money?") hee hee, but i know this time everything will change.
Sure Mitch will get home from time to time to "visit" but he is now on his own path of life and that is hard to accept. I still picture the lil boy i nicknamed "beener" ~ playing road hockey, basketball, & talkin football with me. I think he will do wonderful in the Army, he has a real inner strength about him, and he has this wonderful sense of humor. Last night as i laid in bed I pictured Mitch as a baby, a toddler, a young man ~ he has excelled in everything he has attempted ~ the Army will be no different. I look forward to the day he comes home for his first visit, I believe that where a halfboy, halfman once stood, will now be a confident, proud, young man.
I know I will be okay in a few days, i have to let the idea go that i have to protect Mitch. He's his own man now! We are so very proud of you Mitch. Please take care and God Speed.
Mom
