Sweet Surprises
Good Morning All!
Ever have one of those days where you are tired of the same ole, same ole?? Yesterday I thought instead of making the usual "supper" like spag, meatloaf, pork chops etc ~ I wanted to surprise Patrick with something "different". I decided to try and make tso's sweet and sour chicken ~ Patrick so loved ordering that when we were in New York ~ but being that there are not any chinese places near us he hasn't had it for awhile! So I found a recipe on the internet and went to work ~ I was so hoping I wouldn't screw it up! *hee hee* Hour or so later I have sweet and sour chicken made, two different types of rice, table set sweetly.
Since I wanted everything just right when he walked in the door, I tried to precisely time cooking the rice etc so it was nice and hot. Well 10 mins go by, then 20 mins ~ and I must admit I was getting quite preturbed. As I hear the car in the drive and Patrick coming thru the door I was about to say, "geez babe, where ya been?" but there ~ standing in the door was Patrick with flowers in one hand and a dvd movie in the other ~ he grins, winks at me and says ~ "date night"! I swear that smile and wink still makes my heart flutter! :)
Then he says mannnnnnnnnnn something smells good ~ and he totally and I mean totally freaked out when he walked into the kitchen and seen what was for din din. He kept saying "omg, omg, omg"! *hee hee*
I was like, why did you bring me flowers? And he said "because I can silly" and I wanted to surprise you. That is what keeps a relationship strong and full of love. Sweet, little surprises to the person you love. They don't have to be expensive, or elaborate, they just have to be from the heart. We laughed at how we both wanted to surprise and show the person we love how much we appreciate them. Then Patrick "bribes" ~ and yes I mean "bribes" ~ my youngest son Zachary to sit with Jess and watch a movie ~ while Patrick and I go into our newly built family room, where he started a cracklin fire in our new wood stove. We lit candles, put the flowers on the coffee table, cuddled on the couch and watched a great movie. Even tho our lives are so busy now, it is wonderful to still have time for just "us".
By the way, he lovedddddd my chicken and wants me to make it all the time now!! It is wonderful how one little show of appreciation and love warms a person's heart. So just a suggestion to those in love, what sweet surprises have you done for them lately??
Hugs and Love,
Bren
