In Loving Memory of Bill Hegel * December 20th, 1960 - September 30, 2005
Dear Billy~
The first time I met you, you were standing barefoot and shirtless in your drive way ~ talking a mile a minute with your adorable new york accent! You walked right up to me, leaned over and kissed my cheek, and welcomed me to new york. Your eyes were the brightest of blues, almost lighter then the sky and they danced while you joked and talked. I can see why Patrick and you were the best of friends, you are alot alike. I remember you asking me, don't i have beautiful feet for a man, and i looked down, and you know what??? Yessssss you did!!
Going out to Jams, Karaoke, or just hanging out were always great times. I loved watching you play your drums, how you got so "into" it. Loved when Patrick would call me from work and you'd jump onto the phone and we get into some silly conversations ~ it always made my day. I remember the deep conversations we would have about love, life, and the future. I didn't get to know you that well, but Patrick has told me many, many stories. Like the time you guys were redoing your garage, painting the floor with high toxic paint, doors ~ windows closed ~ only to walk out into the sunshine 20 minutes later high as kites!!
Just as you found happiness again, found Rose, you were dealt a awful blow. We watched you fight, joke, cry, and get angry with this cancer that invaded your body. I am sorry that you had to suffer so, that those beautiful blues eyes were full of pain, that all the life you were meant to have was shortened. I feel sorrow for your beautiful teenage daughters that won't have their father walk them down the aisle someday.
I know you are now free from the pain, suffering, and that your flying with the angels. I will never forget you Bill. On some bright summer morning, when the sky is the bluest of blues, I will look up and smile and know you are ok. It was an HONOR to get to know you Billy. God Bless, We Love You!
