Sings....it's beginning to look alot like Chirstmas!! Oh that is right, it is still October isn't it??!? *lol* Well if you happen to look outside my window this morning it look likes the middle of December! Two feet of snow and it is still coming down. I must admit it looks extremely beautiful with the fall leaves still on the trees ~ you have bright orange/yellow leaves with the fluffy white! Actually had to fire up the ole snowblower yesterday ~ I believe that is a first in October.

For those that read the blog about my son Mitch who is in the Army ~ he is doing well now and healing fine! He sure did give us a scare tho!! Thank you all for your prayers and comments! They are heading out to California for 3-4 weeks of desert training. There has been talk in his squad that they will be heading to "the suck" aka Iraq sometime after January 10th! Ack! I truly don't even want to think of that possiblity right now. If they do go to Iraq I hope it is to a different area then right in Fallujah or Baghdad. When I talk to Mitch or his buddies on the phone ~ yes you realize they are soldiers ~ but what also hits you is that they are just young men ~ ages 19-22 ~ talking about girls, sports & family. I doubt they realize the long-term effects their lives will have after "going to war".

Had a wonderful visit last week with one of my best friends from grade/high school. Sheila and I grew up across the street from each other and would walk to kindergarten together. I vividly remember walking up the sidewalk with black shiny shoes and being in awe at them making that clicking sound. Sheila, her Mom, her sister Doris and a aunt stopped by Monday and we enjoyed sharing memories, laughter, and catching up on each others lives. It is odd how you don't see someone for years and yet when you do ~ you go right back to being the way you were! I still remember to this day when at my mother's funeral as we walked out of the catholic church (filled to the brim with people) my eye caught one person ~ and that was Sheila's mom Kathy. It didn't take any words, just eye contact to know how we both were feeling that day.

Before they came I baked a banana bread and washed up one of my Moms antique " tea sets". It looked so beautiful sitting on the table again ~ after my mom passed I more or less stopped drinking tea ~ I really don't know why. It was something her and I did every day. As I popped the tea bags in the teapot tears filled my eyes, I took a deep breath and looked up and there was my Patrick standing there, and all he said was, " I know Babe". That man knows me from the inside out and back again ~ I so love that man.

Went down to the cabin a few weekends ago to spend some time with family and enjoy the beautiful fall weather. The cabin always has this special feel about it ~ you go there and it takes you away from the "rest" of the world. No tv's, no phones, no computers ~ just the crackling of wood in the fireplace, the smell of cedar, the crash of the waves on shore, and my two year old daughter chasing after leaves that are slowly lofting down saying......"I"ll get it". The cabin always has a way of healing one's soul and helping you to focus on what is really important in life.

How about those Tigersss!! And this time it is not made in jest like in past years! *lol* It will be exciting if they get to the world series ~ whooo hoooo! Now it is a different story for my Detroit Lions ~ hangs her head. Ok go ahead, point and laugh ~ get it over with! I don't know why I continue to be a suffering Lions fan ~ year after year of ~ PAIN! *lol* When in the store, post office you have to cover up your Lion's logo for fear of a chedderhead or vikes fan pointing and snickering ~ how rude! !! So I went ahead and made a football bet with Nate who is a buddy of mine ~ I bet him, and get this.......that the Lions would win 10 games and get in the playoffs!! (hey it could have happened) (kinda) So now I owe him a coffee cup! Drat! Thinking of sending him a big Lion's coffee cup!! Snarf!

Well that is about it for a update, things are going really well here. Gonna make a nice warm fire in the fireplace and have family movie night tonight ~ hoping to see "over the hedge" looks like a cute, funny movie. I hope you are all staying warm and enjoying your friends and families. A special prayer goes out to Doris who is fighting cancer ~ stay strong!!

God Bless~

Bren
