Howdy Bloggers and Bloggets!!
Back from New York after a long weekend there to celebrate Patrick's oldest son's graduation from High School! Now usually this is a huge celebration in most families, but even more so for our family. Rob you see ~ is Autistic ~ and it has been a long, hard road for him and his family to get to this day! It was a very emotional, proud, joyful day, filled with memories of the past and the dreams of the future to come.
Robby is such a wonderful young man. He loves people, talking, laughing, and making home movies. He is exceptional by the way he can make his own movie credits ~ that are almost better then those you see at the end's of movies. Some of the symbols that scroll by as you leave a theater, you barely notice ~ but Rob doesn't miss one. He recreates them in his own style and uses the computer, and other various gadgets to make his credits, with music, rolling page etc!! It is very cool to witness and even more exciting when you see your very own name scroll by on the screen! *snarf* He also has a photographic memory and I must say, you have to be careful what you say around him!!
Patrick and his Ex Wife Deb have done a great job raising not one, but two Autistic son's. Rob has a brother Michael who is 15 and also autistic. They are two of God's greatest gifts and we love every moment with them. The boy's stay with their Mother in NYC but we get to have them up here for 2-3 weeks in the Summer and make numerous trips back to New York for visits.
Rob accepted 3 special awards during his graduation ~ (1) Most Improved Language Skills Award (2) Thoughtful and Caring Award and (3) Most Friendly Award ~ Way to go Rob!!
The highlight of the ceremony was when the Glee Club, of which Robby is a member, did some dancing and singing! They did a wonderful rendition of Men in Black ~ with white shirts, sunglasses and some rapping! Then Rob took the stage all by himself, and belted out Tom Jone's "It's not unusual" wiggling hips and all to a hooting and hollering crowd! The crowd was on its feet as he finished, clapping, whistling, cheering, and I doubt that Rob ~ as he was taking his bows ~ noticed that his Father had tears of love, pride ~ streaming down his cheeks. It was such a beautiful and special moment of realization, hard work, long nights, that this day was finally here and happening.
To my husband Patrick, you made this wonderful human being, he is a such a joy to get to know and love. You did a great job bringing Rob along this far in life and I have no doubt you will guide and show him the way in the future. So you, dear husband, should also take a bow ~ for a job well done! Bravo!!
Congratulations Robby!!
Huggles and Love ~~Bren~~
